| Duvel Tripel Hop Special Edition |
The Tripel Hop is a lovely light gold in color with a mild cloudiness included. Though it is partially see through in clarity the cloudiness give you the impression of your traditional "unfiltered" offering.
Duvel exercises the technique of "dry hopping." This technique involves adding the hop heads to the beer at a later stage of the fermentation process (of course you knew that already). With this process the beer delivers a pallet of plentiful hoppy flavor and rich bitterness.
Don't get me wrong with my take on this beverage, it is not quite a traditional IPA! It is considered a Belgian IPA which is extremely different. Occasionally when one hears the term "hoppy" they might think "Oh it is an IPA and/or it must be bitter." Trust me, this beer starts with a strong flavor of hop filled glory and transitions into an ever so smooth Belgian finish of a reputable triple bock.
I am not going to bore you with the typical "bla di bla" of the notes and aroma. What I have told you should speak for itself. IPA meets Belgian Triple, definitely heaven in a bottle.
Beer Advocate gives it a 4.88/5.
Having tried the normal Duvel offering, I will say that it is better than the typical offering by Duvel. If you get a chance to pick it up you will not be disappointed. Having a biased for the Belgian style, the hoppy-ness of Triple Hop does not sway my perception. This brew is an absolute must have.
I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
